The Garden
This is where I am screening the dirt for
the latest section of the garden. It was a
50% rock  mix, so it was a lot of
screening.
The latest section of the garden.
We use six ft cattle panel to
keep the deer out.
This is the first part of the garden. It its
covered with a 40% shade cloth. The
cloth helps reduce the need for
watering and protects from hail. It
makes too much shade for peppers
and corn.
We plant cover crop for the winter to
help improve the soil. These are the
flowers from Hairy Vetch.
We make four foot raised beds. With this
method of gardening you don't have to till the
ground, because you are not compacting it
by walking on it. Earth worms thrive with this
method.

A skunk digs out all the grubs. It sometimes
digs up the new seedlings but we are glad to
let it do the grubbing.
A row of cover crop, onions, garlic, and tomatoes.
We don't till the cover crop. We simply mow it, clear
a little spot and plant. Some times the cover crop
grows faster than what you plant, so we clip it away
and use the clippings as mulch.
We water with soaker hoses on timers. We have
found that buying soaker hose in 500 ft rolls is the
best. The 50ft rolls differ from roll to roll and do not
water evenly, and just don't have the same quality.
